@beckandcap

Currently nestled in the mountains of Northwestern Montana, Tanner and Jana Roach are the heart and soul behind each Beck & Cap piece.

Starting as childhood friends, to spouses, and now Creative Designers, in every sense the development of Beck & Cap has been a natural progression of an early dream.

ABOUT THIS SERIES

In the FNF Out Of Office Series, we're stepping away from our usual workspace to join inspiring individuals in theirs. Progress is the thread that connects us all, and through this series, we'll share stories of people pursuing their own personal progress.

This month, we spotlight Tanner Roach, co-founder of Beck & Cap.

From scaling a passion into a successful international handmade business, then having it all go up in flames in the middle of the night - Tanner's story is one of inspiring creativity, curiosity, and perseverance in the face of life's biggest hurdles.

Watch the video below to hear more about his creative journey and the tough challenges ahead for Beck & Cap.

About Tanner

Tanner Roach is a craftsman whose journey began with humble, imaginative carvings and has since evolved into a full-fledged passion for transforming raw wood into art. His early work—like the first carved wooden mushroom—hinted at the creativity and skill that would define his career.

Over the years, his approach has grown to blend technical mastery with a deep appreciation for nature’s organic beauty, making him a distinctive presence in the world of handcrafted design.

Tanner’s work speaks to his seamless ability to merge functionality with artistic expression. Observers can see in his work the narrative of a dedicated craftsman whose innovations continue to inspire and transform everyday spaces.

The Beck and Cap Ethos

At Beck and Cap, the essence of each creation lies in celebrating the beauty of natural imperfections and the journey of the materials themselves. Rooted in the rugged splendor of Northwestern Montana, the brand champions sustainable and ethically sourced design—where every piece is a unique blend of artistry, resilience, and timeless character. This commitment transforms every space into a sanctuary that tells its own story through the careful interplay of nature, craft, and innovative design.

DREW'S CUSTOM TREE HOUSE PROJECT

We joined Tanner on site for one of his unique custom projects. In this case, turning a rough log column into a striking center piece. Tanner added limbs of a different wood species, carved them to flow naturally, then burned and brushed the surface to make it stand out without losing the unique beauty in the grain of the wood.

Rebuilding from the ashes

In the early morning hours of December 17th, 2025, Tanner and Jana Roach tragically lost their workshop in a devastating fire.

This workshop was not just a place of work, but a creative haven where Tanner poured years of hard work, passion, and dedication into building beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture and hand-carved artwork.

Sadly, the fire destroyed all tools, materials, equipment, finished orders ready to ship, and the entire workshop itself, leaving them without the means to continue building and creating.

DONATE — GOFUNDME

Yet, even in the face of such overwhelming loss, resilience shines through. While the fire has forced a halt to their creative journey, it has also ignited a resolve to rebuild.
